There will be people who come into your life with whom you will feel an almost immediate connection or affinity. It may feel so easy that you settle right into it like you’ve known one another forever. It may be so unexpected that it’s a little bit terrifying, and you may want to run.  

Whatever you feel, do not discount these attractions; they are not random. These people come into your life to teach you valuable lessons.  

They may love you for a time and then leave you. They may love you always and stay a lifetime. They may arrive at one point, then disappear, only to reappear like angels years later just when you need them. They may sit with you in your darkest times, not saying a word, just being there. They may make you laugh so hard you can’t breathe. They may hold your hand in just the way you’ve always craved. They may flash a smile that quickens your pulse. They may shine the light of their hearts on you so brightly you’re convinced you’re looking straight into the sun.  

Whenever they come, you will know it. You will feel it with every fiber of your being. If you don’t ignore it, you will grow and learn. You will feel lighter. You will smile until your cheeks cramp. You will be brave. You will love. You will feel a sense of peace. You will step into the light they shine.  

And you will shine your own light back.
