So I made it through my 30-day detox, and I’m happy to report that I achieved what I set out to do. I’m feeling better, my skin looks pretty amazing, and my body shed a few pounds and inches as a bonus. Sometimes giving up what we think we need in our lives turns out to be good for us. Imagine that!
My coffee was damn fine this morning, though, lemme tell you that.
A physical re-set is often the catalyst for other changes, and this detox has been that for me. I have let my workouts slide for a while, so they’re back on my priority list. My spiritual practices are also back up on the list. It’s too easy when you’re caring for kids, running a household, working a job, stretching yourself in all directions, to let self-care fall by the wayside. At times, we all let it happen.
But as the season changes, let it be a reminder to all of us to take a breath and take stock. Are you caring for you? Are you where you want to be? Are you spending time with those who nurture your spirit? Are you giving back in ways that feed your soul?
Autumn is a great time to get quiet and listen to yourself. YOU know what you need. And you probably know exactly how to make it happen. If you don’t, get still. Answers are in that stillness.
All you have to do is listen.
