See this? This is the view I woke up to this morning.
I am sitting on a couch in a condo rental on the beach with a steaming hot cup of strong coffee, watching the sun rise up and over my hometown. From where I’m sitting, I can see all the way to the downtown area, its buildings and ballpark towering in the distance.
I sat on the patio last night with my kids and watched a guy tow three screaming kids in an inflatable tube on the back of his WaveRunner. We spotted some dolphins and watched their fins pop in and out of the water for over an hour. We’ve been told manatee hang out around the dock as well and will keep our eyes peeled for them.
We took a walk on the beach at sunset, and as I watched my children, relaxed and happy, I thanked the Universe for the gazillionth time for awareness. Each step we took last night was a gift that I recognize and appreciate. I’m lucky to have those kids and the means to bring them to such a beautiful place. We benefit from being here every year, surrounded by tropical beauty, family, and lifelong friends.
Home is always good for the soul, and maybe a home infused with salty air and white sand is even better. Maybe I appreciate it more because I live someplace else now. I’m not sure.
I think I’ll get myself another cup of coffee, stare out at the sunshine on the water, and try to figure it out.
